The Same
Therapist.
Every Visit.

Unlike large hospital systems and PT chains, every appointment at Joint & Spine is one-on-one with your therapist — the same one, start to finish. No referral needed. No rotating staff. No guesswork.

01
Same Therapist,
Every Visit

You work with one therapist from evaluation to discharge. No rotating staff. No starting over every visit. Your therapist knows your history — and your goals.

02
No Referral
Required

Pennsylvania law allows direct access to physical therapy. You don't need to wait for a doctor's appointment first. Call us and come in — that's it.

03
Private Practice.
Hands-On Care.

We're not a hospital satellite or a national PT chain. Marty opened Joint & Spine in 2005 because he believed patients deserve better than an assembly line approach to recovery.

"Within 5 minutes of walking through the door I was diagnosed with the problem. No fancy equipment, no X-rays — just expertise."

"What sets them apart is the knowledge base they give their patients to stay healthy. I came in injured — I left understanding my body."

Built on Reputation.

Martin "Marty" Zackroff, MPT has been a licensed physical therapist since 1999. After earning his Master of Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University, he spent years at two well-established outpatient PT clinics in Delaware and Chester counties — working primarily with student athletes — before opening Joint & Spine Physical Therapy in May 2005.

His mission was straightforward: high-quality, individualized care in a private practice setting. Marty prides himself on staying current with the latest clinical literature and continuously implementing new techniques into every patient's plan of care.

Four of our five clinical staff members completed their training rotations here — and then chose to join our team. Dana Durkin · Gioia Maiale · Drew Napolitan · Ashley McAllister

That's not coincidence. It's culture. When therapists train in a high-quality environment, they want to stay in one.

Therapists Who Trained Here. Then Chose to Stay Here.

Dana Durkin joined in 2009 after completing her clinical rotation here as a student. Drew Napolitan, Gioia Maiale, and Ashley McAllister did the same. When therapists train in a place that does things right, they don't want to leave.

"Pre-surgery rehab was the smartest decision I made — no pain after surgery and very few pain meds. Marty listened and cared every step of the way. He even called a few days after my procedure just to check on me."

Everything
You Need
to Know

01Do I need a doctor's referral before coming in?
No. In Pennsylvania you have "direct access" to physical therapy — meaning you can schedule and be seen without a physician's referral. If extended therapy is needed, your insurance may eventually require a prescription, but you don't need one to get started.
02Will I work with the same therapist every time?
+
Yes. Every appointment is with your assigned therapist — the same person from your initial evaluation through discharge. The only exception is during holiday or vacation weeks, when you may briefly see a colleague, but it's temporary.
03How long does the first appointment take?
+
Plan for about an hour for your initial evaluation. Depending on the nature or complexity of your injury, it may take up to 90 minutes. Subsequent appointments are typically shorter.
04Will my rehab program be customized for me?
+
Yes. Every patient receives a personalized, hands-on program designed to gradually build strength and restore lost function — without pain. We work cooperatively with you and your physician to address root causes, not just symptoms.
05What should I wear to my appointment?
+
Comfortable clothing and sneakers. Please avoid wearing dresses or skirts, as your therapist will need access to the affected area.
06Who handles billing questions?
+
Joint & Spine Physical Therapy uses WebPT for billing. For billing questions, you can contact WebPT directly at 866-701-9096. Our front desk team — led by Office Manager Brianna Fabiani — can also help point you in the right direction.
